In CyberARTS today we were given the first step in are final culminating project, which was to research some posters of music gigs or musicals from the 1980 to today and I chose a variety to show negative space, innovative design, clear visual images and underlying messages hidden in the imagery or text.
First the Joseph and the amazing technicolor poster uses negative space because it creates letters using the white on black background with a coulpe of lines of colors to link with part of the title which is the dream coat so you are automaticly informed that there's a rainbow coat. The design is effective yet simple.
The Rock of Ages poster a innovative design because it looks clutered with text and pictures but the setup is set to to make it look organized and show the most important pieces of text or pictures. The poster has a color pallette of dark purples and oranges almost to look as if you are walking into a sunset. The poster clearly shows two characters, one holding a mop the other holding a suitcase, this may show that they rose to fame or great importance togethter.
The Wicked poster also uses negative space to show two characters; the good witch and the bad witch. The poster focuses on the characters which tellls you what the main plot of the story is about which is what people want ot know first. The contrasting colors also make each silloette stand out and show there
characteristic; good and bad.
The singing in rain poster is a older one but it still has a creative design, like the Dreamcoat poster this poster shows a scene of a man carring a women in the rain with the unbrella, a basic desciption of the title. The poster has contrasting colors; red and yellow and has the most important information who, what, where and when.
The sound of music posster is another oldie but like the previous one it has a innovative design which shows the key points who, what, where and when. The image is depicting a women running in a feild with a suitcase and a guitar case, this is a scene which does come up in the motion picture movie and bringing the image back remindes people about the movie and invites them to come see the musical live in a theater.
